DADS organizational framework

The DIH AGRIFOOD Data Space (DADS) is technically provided and managed by the ITC – Innovation technology Cluster Murska Sobota (ITC), while it is governed (according to the Governance Model presented in the DADS Rulebook) under the umbrella of the Digital Innovation Hub AGRIFOOD (DIH AGRIFOOD) represented as a non-formal network and community driven of stakeholders in the field of the agri-food sector.

This section describes how DIH AGRIFOOD Data Space (DADS) is established while setting out general terms, legal relations within the DADS and conditions for data sharing agreements, following a vision of promoting data economy in the agri-food sector.

The Governance Model is based on the Rulebook Template for Data Networks published by Sitra, under the Creative Commons Attribute 4.0 International license and modified in order to accommodate specific geographical, technical, economic and social conditions of the DIH AGRIFOOD ecosystem.

DADS Governance Model

DIH AGRIFOOD Data Space (DADS) is a federally organised data-sharing platform where data from the agri-food sector is shared on the basis of pre-known policies and rules defined by the data management model. The data management model is based on ethical principles and guidelines provided by the European Commission. These principles guarantee the data sovereignty of Data Owners and transparency of data collection and sharing among all stakeholders in the Data space

The Governance Model is compliant with the guidelines and regulations of the European Commission, such as:

  • Data Governance Act
  • Data Act
  • EU Strategy for Data

The Rulebook, on which the Governance Model is based was developed based on the work of the following initiatives and organizations:

The Steering Committee is the ultimate decision-making body of the DADS. The purpose of the Steering Committee is to facilitate collaboration between all Parties and organise the administration of the DADS appropriately on a strategic level. The Steering Committee also decides on matters that may have a significant financial or risk impact on the Parties. Each Founding Member appoints one representative to serve on the Steering Committee.

At least one Steering Committee meeting per year is organized to openly invite and include all Accession Members to participate at the Steering Committee meeting and raise any question, remark, or proposal related to DADS.
